Ciora's rare Icelandic Sheepskins are Eco-tanned using traditional methods, to the softest of hides and silky, glossy fleeces. These dyed Grey Icelandics have deep, dense pelts with long, soft waves - for pared-back style and texture, inside or out.

Each of these natural pelts is completely unique in fleece appearance.  The base colour is a soft, mid-grey, with highlights ranging from silvery to smokey, depending on the natural underlying tones of the pelt and the way the light hits them

This primitive breed are born free and roam wild, and their unique double-layered pelts have adapted over centuries to protect them from the harsh climate in the rugged Icelandic landscape. The long, strong outer ‘tog’ fibres repel water, while the fine, downy, supersoft inner ‘thel’ fibres give warmth and insulation.

All Ciora's Icelandic sheepskins are from sustainably managed flocks, and only obtained as by-products of local food production. Each pelt is completely unique in shape, colour and character.

    CIORA SLIPPERS SIZING

It's not always easy to choose footwear without trying it on, or when buying for others. Sizing can be confusing - there's no single industry standard size conversion in use, sizing can vary from brand to brand, and many people take different sizes depending on the brand and style of shoe.

We've done our best to give accurate sizing conversions through a lot of research, comparison with other major brands and customer feedback.

Generally we advise choosing the size you usually take in other footwear, rather than sizing up, as most of our customers find our slippers run pretty true to size. Our footwear is made in full EU sizes, and our UK sizing is determined against that.  You may find it useful, therefore, to check the EU sizing on your other footwear and be guided by that.

    General fitting advice:

    • If you find you mostly take a half-UK size in different shoe brands/types, we normally advise that unless you have feet which are very wide, or are prone to swelling, or have significant foot changes such as bunions, you consider going down the half size.  This advice works for most people.  However, if any of the above factors apply – or if you intend to wear thick socks with your slippers, then we advise sizing up.
    • It’s normal for our eco-tanned, natural sheepskin slippers to feel a little tight on first wearing – but the thick sheepskin wool lining will very quickly settle around and support your feet, and the soft suede will relax, giving more room after a short while.  There is a lot more give with our sheepskin than there is in slippers made from synthetic materials or outdoor shoes, and the sheepskin suede is very soft.  Soft-soled styles will tend to give a little more than hard-soled styles, and will be more accommodating once they relax.
    • Our non-itchy sheepskin wool linings and insoles will wick moisture away from your skin, leaving your feet warm and dry in winter, cool and dry in summer.  We advise wearing them barefoot so that you can fully enjoy the benefits of this wonderful material. The fleece won't normally get stinky (like synthetic materials or trainers will) because of its antibacterial and antifungal properties.

** Our Sula Sheepskin slide slippers are a slightly neater fit than the rest of our range - so if you're usually a half-size in a shoe, we recommend choosing the next size UP in Sula **

Every pair of our slippers are hand-made, so our stated sizes reflect sizing as accurately as possible.

    CIORA BABY BOOTIE SIZING

You should measure your child's feet from back of heel to end of longest toe, and across the widest part of the foot (ball of the foot), making sure to allow at least 1-1.5cm of growth room over and above the foot length. Measure both feet, and size shoes for the larger foot.

All dimensions given are for the outside length and width of the Bootie sole, and you may find this a more accurate guide to sizing than the average age listed - babies don't come in a standard size after all (though they're all gorgeous of course!).

As all our booties are hand-made, there may be slight variations of a couple of millimetres; our stated sizes reflect the size as accurately as possible.
